Joe Ranft

What up, my people. This month, I decided to dedicate my post to an amazing artist that passed away, Joe Ranft. Anyone in animation knows who he is. He was a part of Pixar's "Brain Trust". A terrible loss for the animation world. This is a caricature of Joe done with blue col-erase and graphite. Until here!

Spiderman

Hello, once again. I'm doing pretty well this year, I would say. Posting fairly regularly. I wanted to post this one earlier, but this was the first in a new sketchbook and I'm always so pressured to make the first page good so people will want to keep looking. Haha. Anyhow, I did a bunch of thumbnails but I never got to one that I liked. Then I finally decided that I was putting too much pressure on myself, so I just went for it and had fun. Hope it is satisfactory! I did this one with Red and Blue Col-Erase, Copic black and French Grays, and graphite. Hope you can dig it!

McFly and an Ewok

Greetings, everyone. Could this be it? Could this be the year that I actually post regularly? I've gotten the urge to draw A LOT. I draw on a fairly regular basis, but I've been bitten by the inspiration bug which has caused me to draw a whole lot more. We'll see how long this lasts. Haha. Anyhow, here two pieces that I did in my sketchbook that I just filled up. Marty McFly, red col-erase and graphite. And an Ewok, col-erase, graphite, copics, white charcoal. Can you dig it? Til' here!

Character Poses

Here's another page from my flatbook. I know I haven't posted in a while, so it's the least I can do. This is a character I'm going to model, texture, rig and animate. Bring it all the way through. I'm still in the process of modeling it, but I'll post up WIP very soon. Til' here! GO LAKERS!!!

Several Phases of Funny Faces

Hey there! It's finally vacation. Good quarter all around. I'm very pleased with how my work turned out for this past quarter. There are certain things that I wish could've done more with but hey, you can't have it all. Anyhow, here's a page from my one of my sketchbooks. Cheers!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Wahoo! Tis' my... or... twas my birthday the other day! (January 22) Honestly, I don't feel much different at all. But I did get to celebrate with my family and some of my friends. I know there is still much celebrating to be done with some of my other friends so I can't wait for that And sadly enough, the new Joker, Heath Ledger passed away on my birthday. I will do an homage to him and his role as Joker soon enough. In the mean time, here are some girls from my sketchbook, both done in Col-Erase. Cheers!

My Homage to the Lakers

Hey all! I thought it about time I update my blog again, so what better way to update than to celebrate the Lakers winning streak with number 33, Mr. Kareem Abdul Jabbar! Yes, I am from LA and yes I am a Laker fan, born and bred. It saddens me to hear about Bynum's injury especially when he just started to gain momentum. Anyhow, til' here! GO LAKERS!

Advanced Web Animation

It's been a while since I've posted. I've really got post more often. -sigh-
Anyhow, the project that I've pitched is well under way and we're almost out of pre-production.

In the meantime, I'm doing another short for my advanced web animation class. Here is the lineup of the characters. I'll post them individually, the colored versions, and some backgrounds when I have more time.

This was done with pencil, brush pen, and prismacolor.

They're called the Beebops. They're a series of paintings of jazz musicians. Each one plays an instrument. More on this later. Til' here!

In the Works

Hey hey hey!

I've got something to show you! I've got a project in the works.

Here's some artwork for a story I recently pitched. The pitch went pretty good and if it goes as well as I hope it will, production should start very soon.

Here's a colored version of the two main characters. Just trying to add to the concepts.

Here are character poses for the first main character.

Here are head turnarounds for the first main character.

Here are character poses for the second main character.

Head turnarounds for the second main character.

There will be more soon to come, guaranteed!

Wonder Woman

Graphite

Brush Pen, Prisma Color, White Out

Here's another progression, but of Wonder Woman this time. I started with a Graphite sketch then scanned it in. I printed onto cardstock and colored and inked it with Prisma Markers and Brush Pen. I used white out for the highlights. Lots of fun, this one. Took a liking to her character from watching JLU again.
